Polymarket editorial & affiliate policy

The short version: independent journalism, primary sources first, calculators that show their assumptions, and no pretending the dog has a Bloomberg terminal.

Affiliate disclosure: Business Dog may earn money if you open or use Polymarket through a qualifying link here. That does not change the math, the verdict, or the price you see. Yes, this link can make us money.

Business Dog is independent from Polymarket

Business Dog and The Ledger are not Polymarket, are not owned by Polymarket, and are not endorsed by Polymarket. “Polymarket,” “Polymarket Perps,” and “Polymarket Combos” identify products we report on. We do not use the marks to suggest a partnership.

How we verify mechanics

For product behavior, fees, formulas, resolution, APIs, and referral terms, we begin with current official Polymarket documentation and product/help pages. Volatile material gets a visible verification date. Comparisons also require current primary material from the other product and reputable independent context where needed.

We do not claim firsthand testing unless we performed and documented it. We do not invent trades, screenshots, quotes, market data, or outcomes. Worked examples are labeled examples and recomputed before publication.

What affiliate links change

They change who may get paid after a qualifying referral. They do not change our formulas, conclusions, or whether a product limitation belongs in the article. Predictions and Perps use separate referral systems, so our URL configuration keeps them separate. Commercial links carry rel="sponsored" and a visible disclosure.

How calculators should be read

Probability and Combo tools perform deterministic arithmetic from the numbers a reader enters. The Combo calculator's multiplication is an independence benchmark, not an executable quote and not automatic fair value when legs are correlated. Fee tools use a visibly dated official schedule snapshot and tell readers to confirm the live market or account tier.

Corrections, API failures, and updates

Static explanations remain available if an external API is unavailable. A future dynamic module must validate its schema before display; on mismatch it freezes and shows “Data temporarily unavailable” with a timestamp. It may retain a last-known-good snapshot for internal comparison, but it may not silently label that snapshot current.

If Polymarket materially changes a product, we update the strongest canonical resource instead of cloning a new page. If the company objects to a factual use of its name, this page and the affected resource can be reframed from product manual language to independent analysis within 24 hours without changing the underlying reporting record.

Satire stays labeled

Business Dog occasionally publishes satire. Fictional entities, quotes, or transcripts are labeled at the top. Satire does not share a page with unlabeled financial mechanics in a way that could confuse the answer.

The data moat does not exist yet

We intend to study Combo quote dispersion and resolved outcomes only after requester access, product terms, collection methodology, storage, and privacy have been reviewed. Until observations actually exist, we will not claim a quote dataset, a sample size, sport coverage, validation results, or a trading edge.
